The last 7 sayings of Christ

Palm Sunday

We will deviate from our study of Romans for Palm Sunday (April 9th) and Easter Sunday (April 16th). Please take time this week to read the story Christ's Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem before you come to e:ncounter this Sunday. These accounts can be found in the following scriptures:
Matthew 21:1-11
Mark 11:1-11
Luke 19:28-44
John 12:12-19

This Sunday we will explore the last 7 things Christ said while hanging on the cross.

1. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" - which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" - Matthew 27:46

2. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." - Luke 23:34

3. Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." - Luke 23:43

4. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." - John 19:26-27

5. Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." - Luke 23:46

6. Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." - John 19:28

7. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." - John 19:30

Questions to ponder:
What do these final sayings of Christ reveal to us about His nature?
How can these attributes be an example for us?
What can we learn about the plan of salvation from these sayings?
