Easter

Scripture to read: Luke 24:13-39

Darkness comes, but at the end of three days the light reappears. This week we observe Good Friday as the day Christ was crusified. We use darkness in this rememberance. Think about this as we approach this weekend. It is very important that we view this weekend as a whole. We can only get the full meaning of Easter if we view it through Good Friday. Sunday morning Blair will be speaking about the account of Jesus on the road to Emmaus. Please take time to read and meditate on these scriptures before coming to e:ncounter this Sunday morning.

Questions to ponder:
How many times over are we blind to things that are right in front of us?
Why is the account of Jesus on the road to Emmaus so significant?
How best can we celebrate Easter?
Does the resurrection of Jesus fully complete the purpose of his life?

Lectionary Scriptures for April 8, 2007:
Isaiah 65:17-25
Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24
Acts 10:34-43
Luke 24:1-12

Palm Sunday

Scripture to read: John 19:1-37

As we are coming down to the second to last Sunday in Lent, this Sunday we celebrate Palm Sunday. This is Holy week and we first focus on the entrance into Jerusalem on the donkey while people waved and place palm branches on the road before him. We also remember the other Holy days of the week which include Maunday Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday, and then ending with Easter Sunday. Sunday Blair will be using the seven sayings of Christ during His Passion. Please take time to read and meditate on these scriptures before coming to e:ncounter this Sunday morning.

Questions to ponder:
What does Palm Sunday represent to us?
How can we fully use these Holy days to prepare us for Easter?
Do we as a church use Lent to truely prepare ourselves for the season?
Why is Good Friday called good?

Lectionary Scriptures for April 1, 2007:
Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29
John 12:12-16

We will look at what it means to be called by God and why it is important to answer the call. Please take time to read and meditate on these scriptures before coming to e:ncounter this Sunday morning.

What is God's ideal ministry for you?
What does God's call mean to you?
